Michael W. Brooks, MD, MBADr. Michael W. Brooks has provided executive leadership to The Family Health Centers of Georgia, Inc., a 501(c)3, not-for-profit, federally qualified community health center in Atlanta, Georgia, since 1987. In August 2010, Dr. Brooks was appointed to the position of President & CEO. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Brooks held integral positions of the Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Information Officer. In his roles as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Brooks oversaw the organization’s managed care contracts with the state’s community management organizations. He managed the center’s information technology initiatives, which include network development, the Visionary practice management system and implementing the electronic health record system. As the Chief Medical Officer, he provided oversight for the center’s Clinical Administration Department, which includes medical providers, as well as the dental, social services, radiology, health education, health information management, and nursing departments.

Dr. Brooks is an accomplished board-certified internal medicine physician with a passion for business. He graduated with honors from the University of Alabama with a pre-med degree. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, AL, and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Brooks earned a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University, in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Brooks is affiliated with Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, GA and South Fulton Hospital in East Point, GA. His research projects include Invest Hypertension Trial, Cardensanden Phase I Clinical Trial, Ziac Phase I Clinical Trial and Lamisil Clinical Trial.

Dr. Brooks is an advocate for serving the medically at-risk and underserved communities. He served as the President of the Board of Directors for Georgia Association for Primary Healthcare. He serves a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Community Health Centers, the Area Health Education Center, Peach State Health Plans, APS Healthcare the Southern Primary Care Consortium, and on the United Health Care Advisory Group.

His former and current professional affiliations include 100 Black Men of Atlanta, the Professional Investment Club of Atlanta, Atlanta Society Member, the Atlanta Medical Association, National Medical Association, American Medical Association and the University of Alabama Alumni Association.
