Sounds of Good Medicine 2025

celebrating 50 years of Providing Healthcare Excellence

Saving Life Like It's Golden. Why Give.

The year 2025 marks the anniversary of 50 golden years that The Family Health Centers of Georgia has provided comprehensive, high quality, patient-centered healthcare to the communities we serve, with a commitment to excellence. The generous support of our donors, combined with our corporate and community partnerships, has enabled us to fulfill our mission, enhance operations, and improve healthcare outcomes for our patients.

In 2024, 19,764 patients received adult medicine, behavioral health, pediatric dentistry, pediatrics, pharmacy lab, optometry, or women's health, OB/GYN & family planning services. Approximately 95% of our patients identify as living at or below federal poverty guidelines for Georgia's Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Fulton, and Henry counties. Equally, approximately 95% of our patients identify as African American/Black, with the majority of those patients reporting as female heads of household, children, or seniors.

Through public and private support, we achieved historic milestones over the past 50 years. We are the first Community Health Center (CHC) in Georgia and the second in the Southeast to be accredited as a Primary Care Medical Home. Additional accreditations and recognitions include Joint Commission National Quality Approval and National Committee for Quality Assurance (Gold Tier).

Our clinical outcomes for treating diabetes and hypertension earned us the HRSA Health Center Quality Leader Award. Our public response to the COVID-19 pandemic included providing testing and vaccinations to more than 8,000 people by coordinating with MARTA, retail outlets, elected officials, and community and religious organizations. We increased our telehealth and behavioral health services. As a result, we received the HRSA Bronze Quality Leader & COVID Public Health Champion Award.

FHCGA maintains partnerships with 150+ corporate and community-based organizations that support us with financial contributions, volunteers, and community outreach. Examples of these partnerships include selection as a GE 'Healthymagination' Initiative program participant, which resulted in more than $1-million in financial and volunteer support; a multi-year partnership with Toyota who served as the Title Sponsor of our Annual Sounds of Good Medicine Fundraiser & Community Awareness event since its inception in 2017, the donation of a Toyota Tundra, sponsorship of our Youth Wellness program (868FitJr) designed to address youth obesity, and outreach for behavioral health services.

We received $300,000, sponsored by Uber Health, to offer patients free rides to doctors' appointments, specialists, pharmacies, and therapy treatments. We partnered with Uber Eats to support access to nutritious foods as part of our prenatal care program.

Support from other health-related organizations, e.g., the National Association for Community Health Centers, the Georgia Primary Care Association, United Healthcare, the Cobb-Douglas Service Board, Fulton County Department of Health & Wellness, Emory Healthcare, Wellstar Health Systems, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, the SAMHSA HIV Substance Abuse & HIV Prevention program, to name a few, has helped us expand services to those who need us.

In 2013, we rebranded from West End Medical Centers, Inc. to The Family Health Centers of Georgia, Inc. to reflect our statewide presence. We have grown from our initial eight-exam room facility, located in the historic West End community of Atlanta, Georgia, to our flagship location, The Family Health Center at West End, and corporate office, which boasts a 41,000 sq. ft. facility. We have more than 160 exam rooms located across 12 centers, including seven School-Based Health Centers (SBHC). Working with Fulton County School System, Clayton School Public Schools, and Douglas County School System, we proudly established the first School-Based Health Center program for each county. We operate three mobile medical units, including a 41 ft. mobile medical and dental unit, to reach populations within a 50-mile radius of any one of our center locations.

Additional brand names include Georgia Center for Women, operating in Atlanta and Morrow, Georgia, and McDonough Children's Specialist, operating in McDonough, Georgia.

In our role as the Office of Population Affairs Title X statewide administrator, we oversee the provision of primary healthcare and family planning services across Georgia. We partner with more than 24 healthcare organizations, which operate 208 sites. We reach patients in 157 of Georgia's 159 counties.

With a current budget of $28 million and a staff of 135 team members, The Family Health Centers of Georgia continues to flourish in 2025. We work daily to build upon the solid foundation that was laid in 1975. We strive to provide exceptional healthcare regardless of our patients' inability to pay or lack of health insurance.

Our stewardship of the generous donations that you provide, in any measure large or small, helps us keep our commitment to the community we serve.

Give Now to be a part of our 50-year history. Together, we help others live life like it's golden.
